Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this rather cold but seasonal Tuesday morning.

The banners were still up at the Bush Bar on Sunday night following to gala celebrations for Brendan O Sullivan who won a Bronze Medal at the Special Olympics in South Korea recently. And Brendan would like to say thanks to the organisers, especially Humphrey Hickey, Brian O Leary, DJ Sheehan , and John Crean to mention just a few. And again well done Brendan.

The Funeral took place here on Friday last of our beloved Sr. Celestine, who was 94. There was a very large gathering at her funeral Mass and she was laid to rest in the Convent buriel grounds at the back of the Church. And she will be the last nun to be interred there.

Afterwords a beautiful meal was served at the Parish Centre, by the renowned Denis Doody of Kingdom caterers.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night.
Numbers drawn were 5, 11, 21, 32 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Danny O’Mahony, St Josephs Gardens. The seller was Centra and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to David Kelleher Liscahane, €20 each to Tony O’Brien. Minor Row, David Tarrant of Tarrants Bar, Joe Roche, Coomlagane, Marian McAulliffe Drishane Rd. Jerry O’Brien c/o Patsy Mac. Geraldine & Pat Kelleher, Rylane , Murphy’s Boys c/o Oonagh, & Kathleen O’Callaghan, Drishane View. Jackpot for next week €7,000 the draw at Corkerys Bar on Sunday night.

The Bride ‘n Groom Show went very well at the Green Glens on Saturday & Sunday. Lots of intending brides and grooms availed of the many discounts on offer ,and went home pleased that their big day wont cost them an arm and a leg after all..

And there is still a fine line-up of events planned for the Green Glens , We’ve an extra Horse Show this year, It will be held at Easter,

A challenging Tough –athlon on May11th.

The 20th anniversary of the EuroVision will be celebrated here in May and our star of the Show Niamh Kavanagh is coming on May 18th , especially for the occasion.

The Millstreet Vintage Rally will be held again this year at Easter, in Mount Leader ,thanks to K & L Transport company, and the proceeds go to our Reach out Cancer Support Group.

An Post Rás will pass through the Town on Thursday May23rd.

And further to that our Gathering Committee are working hard on an on-going program for the whole year.

2013-02-13 Cloghoula National School Open Day - posterI’ve an important note here to say that Cloghoula National School is hosting an open day on to-morrow Wednesday from 10.30 to 12noon and from 12.30 to 2pm. This beautifully refurbished school has all the modern facilities of the bigger school, but without the overcrowding.  (click on the poster right)

The AGM of our Community Council will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel to-night starting at 9. All members please attend.

Millstreet Gramophone Circle Meeting this Friday night at the Canon O’Donovan Centre. Starts at 8.15 and instead of a presenter, this time it’s a members choice, and all are welcome.

Canon O’Donovan Centre annual church gate collection this weekend February 16/17th, please support it well.

To-day is Shrove Tuesday, pancake Day, so don’t forget to shop for all the ingredients especially the lemons.

And that means that to-morrow is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent. It’s a time that few of us like, If we are good we will give up one of our favourite things, and we’ll miss it, and if we don’t, we’ll feel guilty for the next six weeks.

We’ll have two Masses on to-morrow Wednesday at 10am and 7.30pm when holy Ashes will be available.

Eucharistic Adoration in Millstreet on Tuesday & Wednesday and in Cullen on Thursday , from 10.30 am to 10.30pm.

The sponsored Weekly Weigh-In continues in Cullen every Monday night in aid of their Special Needs association. Last night64 attended and 110 pounds weight was lost.

Millstreet partiicipate in the semi finals of Scor na Paisti on this Thursday night in Boherbue commencing at 7.30pm.

And in the Co. Senior Scór semi finals, both Millstreet & St Johns will represent Duhallow in Ovens, on Saturday night, with a full programme underway at 7.30pm.
