Millstreet students to act as helpers in Lourdes Easter 2013

Katie O’Callaghan, Denise Cronin and Deirdre Kelleher are all 5th year students at Millstreet Community School.  They will be going to Lourdes for a week during their holidays at Easter 2013 to act as helpers on the IHCPT – Irish Pilgrimage Trust Youth Pilgrimage.  They’ll be joining thousands of people from Ireland and the UK for the week, made up of groups of twenty two people comprising of helpers and young people who face physical, intellectual and emotional challenges.  Speaking on behalf of her friends, Denise Cronin explained, “For us, going to Lourdes is an opportunity of a lifetime and we feel so lucky to be going as helpers at Easter 2013.  We are looking forward to the new experiences we’ll have and new friends we’ll make through being part of the pilgrimage.”

Following in the footsteps of six Millstreet students over the previous two years, the girls are beginning the process of raising money for the organisation to help pay for young people with disabilities to go to Lourdes, and to cover their own travel and accommodation costs (€670 for each of them).  The first fundraising event will be a cake sale which will take place in Millstreet Parish Centre on Saturday 15th December after the 6.30pm Mass.  Your support is appreciated, and the girls would like to thank all the local shops and individuals who have offered to provide cakes for the event.  They are also planning to hold a table quiz early in 2013.
