News items from our vibrant Development Group.

Their Annual Christmas Market and Tea Room is on this weekend on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of December in the GAA Hall from 12 to 5.  Wide variety of stalls packed with Christmas goodies and gift ideas for all the family.

The Gathering Ireland 2013 campaign is now in full swing and our group have devised a special Calendar for 2013 which will give the full list of events that they have planned for each month throughout the year. It also contains lots of interesting snippets of information and old photographs. A wonderful keepsake even when the year 2013 is long gone.

The Group are running a Monster Draw for the month of December. The first prize is €1000 cash with Hampers for 2nd and 3rd. Lines at  €2 each  are in all the  shops.

The draw  will take place on 22nd December, at the  Wallis Arms. So please be part of this exciting month of December for the good of your own town.

Our town is looking really well in the run up to the Festive Season. With its newly surfaced streets and new and colourful markings.

The Co.Council staff  are out in force every day  freeing gullies and  clearing watertables to make sure that heavy rain waters can run freely and not damage our country roads.

Christmas issue of Clara News is expected in the shops on December 5th.

As a mark of Respect for the late Maura Cronin, activities by the Active Retired Group is cancelled to night.

May the popular Maura, rest in Peace.

The annual 45Drive in aid of our local hospital will be held at the Green Glens Arena on  Saturday Dec 8th  starting at 8.45.

Cork Simon Community would like to thank all those who supported their recent Church Gate Collection in Millstreet which raised €1,185.
And the good news that so many of you are waiting. LTV is returning to your screens. The Station in Macroom will be on to-morrow Wednesday night at their usual time of 8,30 LTV2  Millstreet ,will be back of Thursday night of next week ,le conamh De. It remains to be seen what the reception will be like or what adjustments will have to be made owing to the recent changes, but we won’t know until we start, when we make our return on December 6th all going well.

Fundraising will be a major stumbling block,but we must overcome it if we are to keep going, any help in that direction would be welcome.

The people of Dernagree want to say a million thanks to all those who supported their recent fundraiser at the Glen Theatre in aid of their National  School .

A big celebration at the pub in Carriganima on Friday night when Peter Lane will play there to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his aunt Mary and Tade, followed by the Threshing Mill Boys on Saturday night.

And on Sunday December 16th a novel event for charity.

 

Meanwhile out at the Glen Theatre on Friday night November 30th they will host a gala concert by the popular Tommy Fleming. To book your tickets ring 029 56239.

 

Our Greyhound Club will hold a monster Table Quiz at Corkery’s Bar this Friday night November 30th.

Our Community Singers entertained the patients & staff of our local Hospital on Sunday afternoon.

The Parish Choir attended the Vigil Mass on Saturday Night when all those who passed way on the last year were specially prayed for and the list of their names read out by Canon  John FitzGerald.

Eucharistic Adoration continues every week, in all three churches In Millstreet  on Tuesday and Wednesdays from 10.30 am, to 10.30 pm in Cullen Church on Thursdays at the same times and in Ballydaly on Fridays from 5 until 9 pm. Please spend a little time with the Lord.

At the Duhallow Scor na nOg Finals hosted in Kanturk, Millstreet captured the Novelty Act title and progress to a county final next month.

 

St. John’s refixture against Kiskeam in the Duhallow Junior B Football Chanmpionship Final ia scheduled for this weekend

 

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were 7, 19, 22, 24 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Eileen Broxton  Cloghoula, the seller was myself and I got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Tom, Trish & Nigel c/o Tom Carroll.
