Millstreet Celtic 5 UCC A 4

We beat UCC 5-4 in a thrilling match in the town park this morning. We played well for the first 20 mins and had a number of chances through Tadhg Collins, Mark Ellis and Michael Murphy. We failed to convert though and were punished when we went behind 3 mins from half time. We came out quickly in the 2nd half and were ahead after 55 mins following 2 quickfire goals. The first came when Eamon O Keeffe swung over a corner that was well met by the head of Michael Murphy. Straight from the kickoff we won the ball back and went forward. The ball broke to Ellis in the UCC box where he turned and fired left footed to the top corner. The lead didn’t last long though. UCC were back on level terms in the 60th mins and further strikes put them 4-2 ahead with just 20 mins remaining. We got one back in the 80th min when Tim Kiely slotted home a penalty after a UCC handball in the box. We were pushing for the equalizer and Collins saw a header fly just over the bar before Brian Murphy shot wide. As the game entered injury time O Keeffe slipped a pass through for Collins who held off the defender before finishing neatly at the near post. From the kick off UCC lost possession on the left where it was picked up by Michael Murphy. He passed across field for Brian Murphy who ran at the full back before shooting across the goal. The UCC keeper and a defenders got touches on it but Donagh Murphy had been following up from midfield and he was on hand to lash home a dramatic winner at the far post. Best for us on the day were Michael Murphy, Brian Murphy and Tadhg Collins.
