Dia is Mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News report 1133 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on lovely sunny Tuesday morning, following a showery night.

A high-powered meeting was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel last Tuesday night at which the Prizes for the best places in town were presented by the Tidy Towns Committee. There were prizes for the best business front and the best private front.

In spite of the months of bad weather, the judges still had a hard task to decide the very best. Their final result was as follows. Best business front went to Colemans. With Ursula’s Clara Inn a good second. Best in the private section went to John and Charlotte McSweeney Sycamore Drive. Out of 16 short listed Teresa Kelleher, Joan Wall, and Mary Murray got the awards. Very special recognition went to the Presentation Convent, and Kay Ryan Killarney Rd. for their wonderful display of flowers and plants. Many congratulations to all the winners. And indeed to our wonderful Tidy Towns Committee who kept the pressure up the whole time.
