Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely sunny, but darkening, Tuesday morning.

Our new E Centre was launched at the Wallis Arms Hotel yesterday afternoon. The launch was attended by members of the Community Council,  The County Council, the Development Group, Public representatives, IRD Duhallow was also represented and Brendan O Shaughnassy of Apls Electric. And members of the O Keeffe Family in whose building the E Centre placed. Aine Collins  TD introduced the speakers.

Gerard Murphy outlined the importance of an E Centre in the Town and added that the official opening will take place in late September.  In the meantime leaflets giving full information as well as contact numbers are widely available, in shops and businesses in the town.

A notice here from our Development Group asking for your best pictures which they need to form a fantastic 2013 Calendar. Pictures must be of Millstreet or its people, Please hand them in to Tony McCaul or to Billy at the Wallis Arms Hotel.

 

I am still taking names from those who would like to take part in the defibrillator course which will be held by the Community Council in September. My mobile number 086 316 32 85.

 

Little baby Jacob,who was born without eyes three years ago is starting play school this week. Following many trips to Germany for on-going operations, the little fellow is doing extremely well, to the delight of his loving parents, who are ever grateful for all the support that they have received in their adoptive Country.

 

The popular Banteer  gymkhana will be held at the Green Glens this Saturday.

 

A fine Gathering of Kellehers was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel last week. Some all the way from New Zealand, and they were overjoyed to piece together the  blood-lines that stretched right back to the early 1800s. Many thanks to Sean Radley who recorded the happy occasion for posterity.

 

Noreen Dennehy and all the Tidy Towns Committee would like to say a million thanks the residents of Drishane who helped with the Weekly Clean-up of the town and approach roads.

 

The current issue of Clara News is in the shops, a great read for €1. Also the IRD Duhallow monthly news letter is out, please read it carefully and avail of their many classes, courses and lectures  that they have to offer.

And IRD Duhallow would like to let you know that new criteria has been introduced for their Warmer Homes Scheme , Call them at 029 60633 for details.

Zumba Classes with Susan start  at Cullen Community centre on Friday nights at 7.30 .taking off on September 7th.

 

MillstreetCommunitySchoolre-opens to-day for 1st yr students and on to-morrow Wednesday for all others.

 

Schools in general will be re-opening in the coming days and we’d like to wish all students and their teachers a successful term ahead.

 

Road users are asked to take extra care with the increase in traffic as a result of the re-opening of schools both in town and country areas.

The monthly Traditional music at the pub in Carriginma to-night. All musicians welcome.

 

Following the wonderful centenary celebrations in Aubane recently, the committee would like to let you know that the books and DVDs of the occasion are now on sale and can be ordered by contacting John F Kelleher at 086 194 21 61.

 

The book on the BARD by Barry Keane is on sale, at Wordsworth . All of these publications are by the Aubane Historical Society.

 

The very interesting current issue of Seanachas Duthalla is also on sale at Wordsworth. Another treasure of local history and ideal gift.

 

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in our Church every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm .In Cullen on Thursdays  at the same times and in Ballydaly on Fridays from 5 until 9pm. All worshippers are asked to please pray for fine weather, even at this late stage,it could still make a difference.le conamh DE. Also there is a box at the end of the church and slips of paper where people can write their requests. The box will be placed in the Adoration church and requests will be included in the prayers of all who worship there.

 

Sport.

 

Millstreet were narrowly beaten by  Ballyhooly after extra time in the  North Cork U13 Hurling Championship Final played in Doneraile.

Millstreet defeated Lyre in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship semi final  in Cullen on Saturday evening.

Millstreet meets either Cullen or Rockchapel  in a replay in Knocknagree tonight with a 9pm

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at Tarrants Bar on Sunday night . Numbers drawn were

15,23,24, 27 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Hanna Bola, Altamount, the seller was the Millwheel Resturaunt and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Darren & Siobhan Sheehan , Minor Row . €20 each to John Healy,Station Rd.Donnacha Kelleher, Lackabawn. Mgt. Murphy, Cloghoulabeg,
