“Strings” Concert at Drishane Chapel

A very successful "Strings" Concert was held in Drishane Chapel, Millstreet on Friday, 1st June 2012. Great credit is due to the wonderfully talented young musicians and singers. Their superb music teacher, Emer Twomey (nee Foley) coordinated a magnificent programme and expressed sincere thanks to all who supported and attended the very memorable event. (S.R.)

The Concert will also assist the musicians to fund their forthcoming visit to Derry where they will meet many other very gifted musicians and teachers.   We shall be sharing highlights of the Drishane Concert on Cork Music Station on Tuesday, 12th June between 8-9 p.m. in the “Radio Treasures” broadcast.   The Drishane Chapel setting,  very kindly made available by the Duggan Family, was the perfect location for this exquisite occasion.  (S.R.)

  1. We went to the “STRINGS” concert on Friday night last not knowing what to expect and boy did we get more than we bargained for. What a wonderful performance!. You are all very talented musicians and it is incredible to think you have only been together as a group for such a short time. Best of luck with your trip to Derry. Very well done and we will certainly be back for your next performance !!.

  2. Yes I was at the concert in Drishane also and I agree that it was just wonderful, so professional, and so local. To think that we have young people, both boys and girls here in Millstreet who are into such beautiful music and that we have teacher Eimer (Foley) Twomey to teach them. The one thing that greaved me that the audience was so small. Since then I have met lots of people who would have loved to have been there but said they did not know it was on. It was widely advertised both on radio and my weekly report for two weeks which later appears on the website. It was also advertised on the website in a separate box and on Seán Donelon radio program. If wish them all the best in Derry at the end of the month. It is not a competion but an international event for young people and having heard them I know they will do us proud!!
