“Aroma Café” Continues A Millstreet Tradition at The Square

Dining in style at Aroma Café, The Square, Millstreet. This new setting continues a very fine tradition at the Square in that there was once a Restaurant located in exactly the same area managed firstly by Nan Creedon and later by Bina Kelleher and Chriss. Below we share a selection of images we captured on a visit to Aroma Café in February 2012. We thank Noreen O'Donoghue and Staff for such a warm welcome on our visit. A very comprehensive feature on the Aroma Café was recently published in "The Corkman" newspaper. (S.R.)

In the past there were quite a number of catering establishments at The Square including Bina Radley’s, Mary Ellen Radley’s, O’Callaghan’s Hotel (now the Wallis Arms), Bina Kelleher’s and just further down the street in Minor Row – Tom Gubbins’s.   All these centres (known in bygone days as “Eating Houses”) were especially busy on Fair Days and on Market Days every Friday.   A special era indeed.   If you recall other Eating Establishments in this part of Millstreet please share on our comment line.
