Glenthorn 2 – Millstreet Celtic 3

We beat Glenthorn 3-2 away from home today. Glenthorn started the game much better than us and took the lead after 10 mins. They had a couple of more half chances before we started to get into it after around 25 mins. We had a couple of good chances through Danny O Riordan and Tadhg Collins before Paul Dawson forced the keeper into making an excellent save. It stayed 1-0 to half time but we came out a lot stronger in the 2nd half.
Almost immediately Collins had a good chance and another followed for Chris Cleary. It took us until the 65th min to get back level. A Tim Kiely free kick from the left wing evaded both defenders and attackers before bouncing to the corner of the net. We were well on top now and Trevor O Connor almost gave us the lead when he volleyed just over from a Dawson corner. Our second goal came in the 75th min. Collins picked up on a loose pass and drover into the area before slipping it left for Cleary to finish well. We were looking comfortable until 2 mins from time when Glenthorn were awarded a dubious penalty which they converted. Straight from the kick off Collins found Michael Murphy down the right. He checked back and floated a perfect cross into the box for Collins to head home a deserved winner. Best for us on the day were Danny O Riordan, Donagh Murphy and Paul Dawson.
