Fondest greeting dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet but calm Tuesday morning

Regular meetings are being held by the Community Council and local
representatives, to monitor the situation regarding our Community Hospital, and the signs are that there is no danger of it closing in the near future.

Tickets at €25 each are now on sale, from any member, for the Community Council Awards Social which will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday March 2nd.

Many congratulations to the lovely Gubby Twomey,  Murphy’s Terrace who
celebrated her 90th birthday recently.

This year our parish will be celebrating the Centenary of both our Carnegie
Hall and the Aubane Social Club, which of course was a National School
until the 70s.

The kindness of people never fails to amaze, The Swim at the Blackwater
realised over €4,000 for Multiple Sclerosis, and the 24hour fast in
Dromtarriffe made €8,300 for Cope. Many thanks again to all who
contributed. And well done to the organisers.

The Texas Holden Poker Tournament   will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel
on Sunday February 19th, in aid of St John’s  GAA Club .

The Monster MAC, Adventure Race, is making a comeback to Millstreet again this
year in April. MAC stands for Millstreet Athletic Challenge, Last time the
organisers were delighted with the help they got from the local Community ,
and they will need it again. And they are holding an information evening at
the Wallis Arms Hotel this Saturday February 4th at 8.30, please give them
your full support. People with good quality accommodation should give in
their details to Hannelie at the Mill.

In athletics I want to wish every success to  young Padraig Moynihan and
James and Billy Cronin who are competing in the  All Ireland Cross Country
Championships in Roscommon on this Sunday February 5th.

And many congratulations to the popular Bobby Evans on winning the All
Ireland Badminton Championship in the over 65, men’s singles. Which were
held in Lisburn, Co, Antrim at the weekend.

And congratulations to Kathryn O Connell ,nee Roche, Drishanebeg,  on
winning the Top Hair Salon Award in the Mallow Small business
competition.

A very important fundraiser coming up at Hourigans  Bar in Newmarket on
Friday night February 10th and it is all in aid of Suicide Awareness. John
O Keeffe from Ballydesmond is launching a  CD  for the cause, compiled by
all your local singers and musicians.

Music on the night is  by Southern Pride , And admission is only €5 and a
great night is assured. They need your full support for this very worthy
cause.

Our knitting club is open twice every Tuesday, at 10.30 am at the Library
and from 7 -9 pm at the Adult Learning Centre.

Our Menshed is open every Tuesday, in the morning from 10 to 1 and that
evening from 7. All men of all ages are welcome to come along.

If youd like to join Frank Moynihan’s  next  4 week Cookery Class then you
can register  the Community School on this Thursday night. 029 70087.

Social singing resumes on this Thursday night at the Parish Centre  at 7.30
. It is  free of charge and all are welcome.

Marian Players Rathmore want you to know that they are completely sold out
for  this Saturday and Sunday, but due to popular demand they will stage
Cinderella again on Sunday February 12 at 3.15.

LTV2 celebrated program 200 in style at the Pub in Carriginma last night.
And it was all recorded for your enjoyment.  Sean and Matt left no stone un
turned to make it an occasion to be remembered. All were welcome to attend
.And friends of LTV2 came to lend their support.  There was music and
Dancing, storytelling, and lovely food. Don’t miss it on this Thursday
night at ten and the repeat on Sunday night at 8.and at any time on the
Millstreet website.

Please be reminded that local TV programs start every Sunday evening at
5pm.

The Weekly fundraising Weigh-In continues in Cullen every Monday night. Last
night 106 people attended and 216 pounds weight was lost.
The evening includes Aerobics and Music and  Dancing.

This week we will have Candlemus Day when Candles for the Alter will be
Blessed,  and Friday is the Feast of St. Blaise, throats will be blessed at
the 7.30 Mass that evening.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30
pm.  Confessions every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.

The AGM of our Credit Union takes place to-night. At 8.15.

In sport commiserations to our Camogie team who acquitted themselves well
but lost to Scoil Iosgan, Dublin in the Quarter Final.

A million congratulations to our u16 Football team on winning the County
Final in Ballincollig on Sunday beating Clan na Gael 12pts to 6

Millstreet secured a triple win in the Duhallow Senior Scór Finals in
Kanturk on Friday night last.  in Ballad group, novelty act and question
time.

St John’s enjoyed success too, a win in set dancing with runner up
places added in Novelty Act and recitation.

The Millstreet and John’s qualifiers  progress to a county semi final
in Coachford on Sunday, February 12.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at
Tarrants Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were 4, 7, 23, 30 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to
Betty Goggin, Bolomore, the seller was Grace and she got €50 sellers
prize. €50 went to Tim Healy, Millstreet€20 each to Denis Singleton,
Carriglea, Pat Tim & Noreen Murphy, Prohus, Kate Buckley, Dooneen, Mary
Naughton. Cullen, Johnnie Hickey, Shanaknuck, Rosie Linehan,Buttavent, Davy
Tarrant, Bridge Bar,   Mary & Tony FitzGerald, Killarney Rd. Jackpot for
next week €4800 the draw at the Bush Bar on Sunday night.
