Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1097 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this beautiful calm Tuesday morning.

Well the Loveliest Night of the Year lived up to its name again this year. The Women’s Christmas was celebrated in style by over 200 ladies of all ages at the wonderful Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday night last January6.  Every “Girl” in the family from Grannies to granddaughters were all dressed up in their finest bling  for the night that was in it.

It was great to see old friends meeting up and recalling their young days when life was simpler and the Celtic hadn’t yet come to spoil it all.

But there was no talk of bad times that night it was all fun and more fun. The beautiful meal, the rousing music of the Kelt, you couldn’t ask for more.

A collection box was passed round the Hall on the night, in aid of Cancer research and a massive €1,545.20 was raised.

Again many thanks to Mairead Daly who, in spite of her illness, saw to every detail of the great event. Thanks also to her helpers, especially Breda Cremin.
