Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice mild morning in the run-up to Christmas.

Santa came down from the air at Carriganima on Sunday last as promised. A very large crowd gathered to see the helicopter land with the ease of a bird in Walshes field adjacent to the village. It was a joy to watch the little children, wide-eyed with amazement at the scene. A great evening followed with every little one going home with a parcel to open.

A night of Traditional entertainment at the Pub in Carriginma to-night. Special Guests Max Rambles and Anne Marie O Riordan. Their Christmas draw is on Thursday night, Music by Pat Buicke.

Our town is well lit up for the Season  of Goodwill. Perhaps not as well as in former years but our development group have decided to do as much as they can afford and be an example to others to do likewise in these trying times.

There were many draws and free opportunities to win prizes for the past number of weeks and now the winners are  enjoying the benefits. Look up our website and see the many happy faces as they receive their gifts. The final judging of the best fronts takes place on December 23rd. And there is €100 cheque for the best private house front and the same for the best business front.

And there is still time to pick up that last minute Christmas gift in our shops. Please let your giving be practical in these times of need. Vouchers for heating oil, coal, food, etc are the thing for this Christmas.

Our Twinning Group held a very enjoyable Christmas Party at McCarthys Bar on Thursday night. Again the pictures compliments of Sean Radley, on the Web.

Program 196 of LTV2 on this Thursday night. And there is a marathon broadcast on Christmas Day (Sunday) from early evening to midnight.

Programmes 193, 194 and 195 will appear shortly on our website.

Programme 196 will be broadcast this Thursday night at 10.00 p.m. and will be repeated on Thursday, 5th January 2012 (not repeated on this Sunday which is Christmas Day). LTV2 Millstreet will have five special half-hour programmes on Christmas Day ” 7 to 8 pm; 10 ” 11 pm and 11.30 to midnight. Ending by our own Sean Radley.

Aubane are preparing for the annual Christmas Day Climb of Mushera mountain and this time the proceeds will go to the St Johns Well Fund. Please support them well.

Their Annual sing-song round the Fire is on December 28th. Always a great night out.

Millstreet will be well represented at the Cork County Scor na nOg finals in Ovens on Thursday,  December 29 starting at 6pm. And we wish them the best of Luck.

A note from Eileen Tarrant to say that she is looking for your full co-operation again this year for the New Years Day plunge into the Blackwater at Dooneen. It follows, Boeing New years day swim in aid of multiple sclerosis Ireland Cork North West Branch. Commencing at 12.30 sharp at Dooneen Millstreet. We would like to ask people for their support and all are welcome on the day to support the swimmers. All contributions and support is greatly appreciated. This week our parish is concentrating on the real meaning of Christmas. Our Parish choir is putting in many extra hours of Practice and will perform at most of our church services over the holiday period

A Penetental Service was held in our church on Monday night last with many visiting priests taking part.

We always have Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesdays from 10:30 am to 10:30pm.

Confessions will be held   in Millstreet on Saturday Christmas Eve from 12,30 to 1pm .And very often the priest hears confessions after various Masses.

Christmas Eve Masses will be said in Cullen at 8pm. In Millstreet at 10.30 pm And on Sunday Christmas Day Mass in Millstreet 8.30 am.Ballydaly 9am. Cullen 10.15 am and in Millstreet at 11.30am.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at McCarthys Bar on Sunday night, Numbers drawn were 1, 15 ,16, 29 and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to John O Callaghan, Kilcorney, The Seller was Tarrants Bar and they Got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Cian McCullagh Limerick,   €20 each to Malissa Dennehy Liscahane,. Christy .Ring, Carriginma.     Patrick Murphy, Banteer, Anthony & Eileen. Rathduane, Matt Murphy,Minor Row. Anna Mae Daly, The Bridge, Marie Creedon, Cloghoula and Mary Barrett, Carrigacooleen.

The next lotto Draw will be on January 15th 2012. It will be held at the Clara Inn with a jackpot of €4,200.

In closing for Christmas on Sunday night the Chairman of the Lotto Mr. Noel Buckley, thanked the public for their great support during the year and wished them all a very Happy Christmas .

In closing I want to thank our clergy, and choirs and all those who make our churches so beautiful and prayerful  as we celebrate the Birth of Christ.

And to wish them, and you my dear listeners wherever you are, and all at our local radio Station  very, very Happy Christmas.
