O’Halloran/Halloran, Twomey

I am looking for anyone in the Millstreet area who may be related or knows of anyone who is to the above family. My Grandfather, Patrick was born in the Millstreet workhouse in 1872 to Mary, nee Twomey and John Halloran who were married in Millstreet in 1865. They had three other children, Denis born in Millstreet in 1867 and twins John and Hannah born in Cork city in 1869. The family, minus Denis and Hannah, who we presume both died in childhood emigrated to New Zealand in the 1880’s. Hoping there is someone who can help us.
Best regards,
Kevin O’Halloran
Lower Hutt,
New Zealand.

  1. Hi. Not sure that we a common search, but I am also researching an O’Halloran-Twomey connection. Ours is in Carrick on Suir, Tipperary: Edmund (from Carrick)and Mary (from Clonmel) married in 1832, daughters Kate, Rose, Ellen and Honor, son John Edmund, a banker who was later in Kerry and Claremorris.
The similarity of names is striking. Don’t see a Cork connection.
Have you heard of any connection with Killenaule. Hannah is a name I have heard about from there….

  2. I’m coming to this conversation a little late but maybe somebody will see it.

I have a HALLORAN-BUCKLEY connection. My GGGG grandfather Callaghan HALLORAN married Mary BUCKLEY on 24 Jan 1811 in Annakissy Parish, County Cork, Ireland. They had a daughter Catherine baptized 11 Mar 1812 in Annakissy Parish. (Annakissy is also known as Killavullen.)

Apparently Mary Buckley died (in childbirth?), as Callaghan married Mary S. Higgins 1 Nov 1814 in Annakissy Parish. These two had 10 children (one of them being my GGG grandmother Mary HALLORAN), some of whom emigrated to the New York City in the early 1850s where they settled and had families of their own.

  3. Hi,
My EGG Grandmother was Mary Halloran who was born in Cork 1793, died at Millstreet, Cork in 1868. She was married to John Cantrell. He was born in 1793 also Cork. I haven’t found a marriage date as yet.
They were the parents of my 2nd Great Grandmother Sara Ellen Cantrell. She was born 21st March 1823 in Cork, Couty Cork.
At some point Sara went to England and my Gt Grandfather and 2 of his sibblings emigrated to Maspeth, Queens NYC.
His name was John Edward Webb, his brother Benjamin Webb and sister Martha Webb.
Benjamin married Amy Plummet and they had several children. One was called George, not sure off hand the names of the others.
I’ve been stuck on the Irish side of the family.
