Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice seasonal Tuesday morning.

 

It is that time of year again when our St Vincent de Paul committee get to work to raise funds for the needy at Christmas. They are holding a monster Cake Sale at the Pastoral Centre after the 6.30 Mass on Saturday November19th. They will need givers and Buyers. And will be in attendance that afternoon to receive goodies. They are asking people to please put their cakes etc on disposable plates and have them wrapped ready for sale. Put Buns in handy numbers for easy selling. Above all please give generously to this very worthy cause.

The  monthly meeting of the Community Council will be held to-night at the Wallis Arms Hotel. Starting at 9. All members please attend.

And the long-awaited  Community Singing Group is becoming a reality.
Starting on Thursday November 17th at the Youth Centre at 7.30. Both men and women welcome. Please pass the word, if you’d like an hour or two of informal singing and lots of fun then this is for you. Thursday November 17th is the starting date. Will remind you again next week.

This week will see a welcome return of the Self-Build exhibition at the Green Glens, on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, Always a lovely place to browse.

And watch out for boxing at the same venue at a date yet to be decided.

If you live in town or a built-up area please be reminded to order your small Christmas Tree for putting on your house at the front to help brighten up our Festive Season. Contact any member of the Tidy Towns or Nicola McMahon. And always Keep Millstreet Clean.

The Annual Sean Moylan Commemoration ceremony will be held at Kiskeam this Sunday November13th after 12oclock Mass. Oration will be delivered by Michal Martin. Refreshments later at the Community Centre.

This month of the Holy Souls continues with lots of indulgences to be gained for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Visit a graveyard, pray in church, light a candle. So many little ways to help them on their way to Heaven.

Graveyard ceremonies this weekend Millstreet Church Yard Cemetry after 11.30 Mass on Sunday, St. Mary’s at 12.30, Drishane at 12.45, and Cullen 11am after Mass. Candles will be blessed at all Masses.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrement every Wednesday for 12 hours, from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm. Drop in any time.

Papers for special requests can be placed in a box at the bottom of the church  and this box will be placed on the alter every Wednesday and then in the Adoration Chapel so that people attending can pray for them.

Alter society meeting in the Parish Centre on Wednesday night of next week November 16th. All present members please attend, New members welcome.

Choir practice in the Pastoral Centre every Wednesday night starting at 8.

Our lovely Church is further enhanced by the lovely colourful Garden of Memberance that has been placed there for the month of the Holy Souls.

A million contratulations to the lovely Joanne O Riordan, who was born without limbs, on receiving the Special Achievement Award at the West Cork Garda Youth Awards ceremony recently. Joanne continues to inspire all those around her with her great successes and cheery ways.

Our town was deeply shocked at the recent and untimely death of Paul Herlihy. In his mid forties, he came into town only in recent times, to take over our Centra Store in the West End. May he Rest in Peace and may God enable those whom he has left behind to continue the great work that he had just begun.

Watch out for the return of Local television this Wednesday from Macroom and Thursday at 10 from Millstreet.

Meanwhile out at the Glen Theatre they are packing them in for their one-act plays. Order your tickets now for this Friday Saturday or Sunday night and enjoy,

Look out for any of the many hobbies and enjoyable past-times in your area, there is something out there for everyone.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Clara Inn on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 1, 12, 17, 28 and the jackpot was not won €100 went to Georgia Armani, The  seller was the Mal Passo Bar and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Julia Mary O Riordan, Kilowen. €20 each to Paddy O Connor, Ballinkeen. Kathryn Cleary ,Clara Rd.Mary Collins, Dooneen. Joanne Cotter, Murphys Tce, Kieran Murphy ,West
