Dolly in Dublin’s 02 Theatre

This was the colourful setting at the 02 Venue (formerly "The Point") with Harry Crosbie's "Dublin Wheel" on its grounds, during the week when Dolly Parton was appearing there for one night only. The development in Dublin's Dockland area is quite amazing. We shall later include a feature of images captured there recently. (S.R.)

  1. Does anyone know where to get the music for “Where The Sweet Black Water Flows” heard it at a funeral here in San Francisco and thought it was beautiful. I loved the words about the surronding area from Knocknagree to Boherbue to Gneeveguilla and Culin ui Ahaoimh to Millstreet. I would love to get a copy of someone singing this song….thanks

  2. I don’t know it, but maybe you’re referring to the song called “The Hills Around Fermoy” which uses the lyrics “… by the Sweet Blackwater Flows” in most verses. It may have been adapted to use towns you mention like Knocknagree and Boherbue.

you can listen to it and read the lyrics on youtube at:

  3. what a coincidence! i was looking for that song myself since i heard it was sung at Bill Kelleher’s funeral!-must be the same one but was not able to find it, i will ask my mom for more info on it, she was at the funeral as well

    1. Right, it was sung at Bill’s funeral. It was beautiful I will ask Celine who sang it where she found it and if it has been recorded.

  4. a message for Breeda and Michael.. regarding the song “Where the Sweet Black Water Flows….”

That song is actually a rewrite of another song called Where the Mulcair River flows. Mary was telling me that Southern Pride, a band who played a lot in Cork and Kerry, wrote the words of Where the Sweet Blackwater Flows and set it to the same air as the other song. Mary gave me a very old tape so that I could learn it!

You can hear the original version here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFEIcHzsLPQ
    Thanks!
