Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this the calm Tuesday morning following a very windy night.

The Good News on this rather dull Tuesday morning is that Millstreet won a Bronze medal in D category of the National Tidy Towns Competition.  And moved up a further four points to reach 291. Our Town was described as being vibrant and an exciting place to visit. Referring to our newly developed walks they said that few towns have used their natural resources to such good advantage as we have.

Needless to say our community is over joyed. And especiallyour Tidy Towns Committee who applied the hands-on labour that was needed to get the results. A million Congratulations to them and to all who helped in any way to achieve this. They have done us proud.

Following the draw on Sunday night, Chairman, Councillor Noel Buckley congratulated popular member Bobby Evans on being one of just four contestants to represent Ireland at the World Badminton Championships which were held in Vancouver, recently where they acquitted themselves well in the over 60s section.

He also welcomed back Donal Guiney, who was among the 20 people who travelled to our Twin town in Brittany, Pommerit le Vicompte, to celebrate 25 years of the association. And a special Plaque was unveiled in the Town Square to commemorate the occasion. A return visit is planned for the year 2013. le conamh De.

Our annual September Horse Fair was held in the town on Sunday, while at the same time the Banteer Gymkhana was held at the Green Glens Arena,

The National Dairy Show will be held at the Green Glens on October 15th and the Pony Show which is run for charity every year is on October 28th, 29th & 30th.

And to brighten up your day an open air concert will be held at the Star Trax Studio, Knocknagree on next Sunday September 11th. With a wide range of artists, Look up the Posters for the list.

I must apologise to Tim at McCaul’s for calling him Tim Ring last week, of course as everybody knows, he is  the popular, Tim Long. Mae a Culpa.

There is a whole list of events starting up now that the nights are drawing in. Tonight sees the resumption of the Knitting Club which was so popular last term, but there’s more. Starting on September 13 there will be day-time knitting at our Library every Tuesday from10.30 to 12.30.

Pilates Classes resume at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Monday September 12th.

A musical Director is being sought for the new parish singing club.

One Day Walking Festival on September 24th.

Living Scenes returns at the Community School on Thursday September 15th. Again some retired people from the community are invited to be part of it. It is an interaction project where adults either men or women join a number of Transition Year students one afternoon a week to engage in Creative writing, Artwork, Chatting , having the friendly cup of tea and so on. Those interested should contact the School at 70087 or contact me and I will put you in touch.

45 Drive at the Canon O Donovan Centre every Tuesday night. Bingo at the GAA Hall on Thursday nights.

Millstreet defeated Meelin in the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship.

On this Friday evening, Millstreet meet Ballydesmond in the Duhallow Cup in Millstreet with a 8pm throw in.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at McCarthy’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were,6,10,17,24 and thee jackpot was not won. €100 went to Christine O Callaghan, Bolomore, the seller was Danny O Callaghan, and he got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Vincent O Sullivan, Drishane View, €20  each went to The Kids in America, c/o McCarthy’s Bar , Gerard O Callaghan, Moulnahorna,  T.Lucey, Keale, Marie Neenan, c/o Tarrants, Sean Casey, Rathmore, Geraldine O Sullivan,
