Official Launch of Karen O’Connor’s Magnificent Book of Poetry

Pictured at the Book Launch in Siamsa Tíre, Tralee on Friday, 24th June 2011 - from left: Gillian Wharton Slattery, Mayor of Tralee who officially launched Karen's "Between the Lines" with Karen and her husband Andrew (Mulqueen) and daughter, Holly.

Sligo may have Yeats, England may have Wordsworth … but Millstreet is doubly blessed to have two such gifted Poets as Karen O’Connor (Mulqueen) in Tralee and Francis Duggan in Australia, both of whom are supremely proud of their Millstreet roots and are truly marvellous Ambassadors not only for Millstreet but for the Irish nation.  Cullen, of course, are blessed to have renowned poet Bernard O’Donoghue who works in  Oxford.    With Doghouse Publication’s splendid MC, Noel King who has edited Karen’s two books it was a wonderful night of celebration in Siamsa Tíre (and later at the Brandon Hotel) as Karen read so movingly and so clearly from the heart  from her latest collection of exquisite poetry to the utter delight of family, friends and enthusiastic fans.      Karen’s book is on sale locally in Millstreet at Wordsworth.    Here we share images of the highlights of the most memorable and enjoyable evening.  We have recorded the Launch for LTV2 for later transmission in our Autumn schedule.   (S.R.)

  1. I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Seán Radley for coming all the way to Tralee for my launch and taking all these beautiful pictures. It was a wonderful night made all the better for having Seán there.

    1. Karen….It was such a privilege to have been present at a truly superb event. I do hope that the people of Millstreet will in time get the opportunity to listen to you reading from your new book. You share your poems so magnficently and so very sincerely with your audience.
