Fondest greetings dear listeners & I wish you all the very best on this sunny Tuesday morning.

Our outdoor masses which were held last week were very well attended, On Friday night Masses were held both at St, Mary’s Cemetery and at Tubrid Well ,both started at 8pm . Very large crowds turned up to each with the Mass in Tubrid ,which was a family tree mass,& blessing, not ending till 10.30. Mass for the Macroom Faith ‘n Light group was held there on Saturday and they enjoyed refreshments at the GAA Hall afterwords,helped by local volunteers.

On Monday night next June 20th Fr. Paddy O Byrne will celebrate Mass at Turbid  starting at 8pm and all are welcome.

The Cloghoula School children are gone on the school outing to-day with their teachers and parents. And on Sunday  June 19th.  their annual pattern day will be held in the school grounds ,starting at 1pm.with all the usual attractions. Please support them, well.

On Sunday next also the Aubane Social Club are having a climb of Mushera Mountain from 2pm.

June 24th their Annual Mass at St. John’s well.

And their Fun for All Day is on Sunday June 26th.

The next Millstreet Gramophone Circle’s presentation takes place this Friday night, 17th June 2011 at 8.15 p.m. in the Canon O’Donovan Centre, Clara Road, Millstreet.   This month’s presenter is Nora Burke of Kanturk.   All are very welcome.

 

Our Knitting club still meet every Tuesday night at the Adult Learning Centre in the Main Street , from 7 to 9 pm and all are welcome.

 

A Millstreet Festival of Adult Learning will be held from July 18th to 22nd. For details contact Elaine Hooper at 086 833 78 11.

 

The AGM of le cheile will be held at the Parish Centre on Monday night next June 20th.  Starting at 7pm. Local TD Aine Collins will open the Event.

 

To brighten up your Summer Sundays there will be open-air dancing at the newly extended, pub in Carriginma. Starting on Sunday June 26th from 3-6. with a host of DJs from as far away as Arklow. Also including Willie Fitz & Michael Murphy of Ears Radio Fame.  And Peter Lane who needs no introduction from me.

Music at the same venue this Friday night will be provided by the popular Sunday Cure. So give the boys at the pub your best support they are doing their best to banish your blues.

 

Our over 50s annual outing is on  Thursday July 7th. All names & moneys must be in early this week. Ring 70407.

 

Cullen’s Feis Laiterain was held on Sunday last ,and enjoyed fine weather and a large crown. Well done to the organisers.

Their Young at Heart Meeting will be held this Thursday night at 8.

And their annual Threshing & Vintage Day  Sunday July24th.

 

A nice function will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel this Friday night June 17th at which the proceeds of this years Vintage Rally & Family Fun Day which was held at the Green Glens,will be shared between our local Hospital & The Canon O Donovan Centre. All those  who were involved are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served are there will be live music. Starts at 9.

 

It’s that time of year again when the first group of the People-to-people  project will arrive in town. About 40 young people between 14 & 16 from the USA will spend a few days in the area. Centered at the Green Glens, among other things, they will spend one whole day exploring the lovely Country Park as part of their stay before moving on to another part of the country. Similar groups will arrive in the coming months. And we hope they enjoy their stay.

 

A fond Bon Voyage to Fergal Collins his lovely wife Brianne and their children who have returned to Australia following two weeks at home with his parents  Noel & Eileen.

 

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at The Clara Inn on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 8,14, 18, 19  and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to Sinead Corkery, Shanaknuck, the Seller was Corkery’s Bar and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to

Erin & Mia Lawlor, Old Court rd, €20 each to Amanda O Callaghan ,Macroom, Emer O Mahony, Clara, Susan Murphy, Ballydaly, Stephen & Emma c/o the Wallis Arms Hotel, Brian Kelleher, Aubane, Con Dennehy, Curragh, D. Golden, Tullig,  and Ann O Leary, the Square. Jackpot for next week €10,400 the draw at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

The monthly meeting of the Community Council will be held to-night at the Youth Centre, starting at 9.

I want to wish all of our students continued good luck and success as they make their way through the second week of their exams.
