Hi, My friend Malcolm McLoughlin is undertaking a charity run this sunday 3rd July from Mizen Head to Malin Head (570km!) and will be passing through Millstreet. He is raising funds for autism, for his own daughter Pearl and various other Autism charities. If anyone would like to cheer him on or run a little please come out. Exact dates and times of reaching Millstreet will be updated via his Running For Pearl facebook page.
I reckon he’ll be coming into Millstreet on the second day (Monday 4th) as it’s about 120 km from here to Mizen, but we’ll try to keep ye posted as to when he’ll be coming into Millstreet.
Click on the poster (right) for further details, or see below for links to the full details.

Best of luck to Kevin Crowley who will play with the Cork Minor team against Tipperary in the Munster Final next Sunday 3rd July at 12pm in Killarney (before the Senior Final). Kevin will play at wing back (#5) again in the final.
In a preview in the Corkman says that “McEoin and wing-back Kevin Crowley (Millstreet) have arguably been Cork’s most impressive performers over the two games to date“. There is another preview of the game on the Irish Examiner.
Check the video below to see how Cork and Crowley (#5) demolished Clare on May 18th last:
I am researching my wife’s side of the family (Kelleher), and I am trying to determine the church in which they were baptized in the mid-late 1800s. The records I am able to access merely say “Parish-Rathmore” but not the actual name of the church. Millstreet appears in some of the old records.
I can go back as far as Denis Kelleher, b. 1833 and his wife Julia (no maiden name recorded). They lived in Mausrower and were farmers. Their son Michael Kelleher (b.1864, married Johanna Daly ca. 1890) ) was continue reading…

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to News Report 1070 from Millstreet.
Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice seasonal Tuesday morning.
The beautiful weather over the weekend made all the difference to the many outdoor activities that were held around the area. The Corpus Christi parade was held through the town immediately after 11oclock Mass on Sunday. It was well attended. The Pipe band played and the choir sang at the Benediction at the Alter in the town Square.
PA provided as always by John A O Sullivan.
The choir is now on it’s Summer break and will resume in September.

Sligo may have Yeats, England may have Wordsworth … but Millstreet is doubly blessed to have two such gifted Poets as Karen O’Connor (Mulqueen) in Tralee and Francis Duggan in Australia, both of whom are supremely proud of their Millstreet roots and are truly marvellous Ambassadors not only for Millstreet but for the Irish nation. Cullen, of course, are blessed to have renowned poet Bernard O’Donoghue who works in Oxford. With Doghouse Publication’s splendid MC, Noel King who has edited Karen’s two books it was a wonderful continue reading…
