Report No. 1064

And a good morning to you, Patricia and welcome, dear Listeners tuned in on c103 and worldwide on the Internet, to Millstreet Regional Report No. 1064.   Today’s report refers to an €8,000.00 figure not just once but twice!  We look forward to forthcoming events including Macra and music related happenings.   And there’s more … much more!

Our report may be accessed on www.millstreet.ie where full results of this week’s Millstreet Lotto may be viewed.   Our Millstreet website has become increasingly popular and due to the inspiring dedication of co-ordinators that includes Hannelie O’Connor and Michael Cashman it is generally updated a number of times on a daily basis.   We post lots of digital images on the site to enhance the experience of various local happenings.    This is especially appreciated by our many web viewers living abroad.   Another recent development on our site is the availability to broadband users of complete LTV2 programmes thanks to the excellent work of LTV2’s Bernard Crowley who uploads the programmes one week following broadcast of the weekly transmissions.

It was Fr. John Fitzgerald, P.P., Millstreet who drew out at the Wallis Arms Hotel the various winning tickets at the Millstreet Parish Capital Fund Draw on Sunday afternoon following the Vintage Tractor Drive by Millstreet Vintage Club who had sponsored the various prizes.   The very well organised Draw realised in excess of €8,000.00 for the Millstreet Church Restoration Fund.  Chairman of the Restoration Committee, Denis Lane was delighted with the generous response of those who supported the praiseworthy Draw.   Denis comments (Heard on c103 transmission).

Mass at Turbid Holy Well on Friday week, 27th May.

On next Friday night, 20th May, at 8.15 in the Canon O’Donovan Centre at Clara Road, Millstreet we have the monthly Millstreet Gramophone Circle presentation.   It is Emmet Kennelly of Tralee who shares his choice of music on this occasion and judging by Emmet’s last exquisite presentation here in Millstreet this Friday’s programme is much anticipated.   All are very welcome.

In the expert hands of the Forde Family & Staff the major current  painting project at St. Patrick’s Church is making steady progress.   Many positive comments have already been received from those who have viewed the completed sections especially noting how very beautiful the tops of the various columns are beginning to appear.

Speaking of Millstreet Church, had you realised that since the church aerial has been very much extended that the signal for television transmission of church services can now be obtained over a much wider area.    To tune in it’s advisable to ask those who are acquainted with such signals to manually tune into Channel 53 UHF when a service happens to be on in the Church.

Great credit is due to All associated with the truly magnificent First Holy Communion ceremony held at Millstreet Church on Saturday last when some 36 children participated so wonderfully in such a meaningful liturgy graced with exquisite singing and marvellous music.

And James Kelleher of Millstreet Macra indicates that they would like to thank all who attended their recent Table quiz held on April 29th and that they are hosting a Charity Concert on Friday May 20th in the Wallis Arms Hotel beginning at 9pm with tickets at €8.00 and all proceeds going to Marymount Hospice in Cork.

Banteer Drama Group received much highly deserved praise on their recent presentation of “Say Cheese” by Bernard Farrell.   Playing to capacity audiences in the superb setting of the Glen Theatre this latest production was hugely enjoyable.   For information about forthcoming events at the Glen Theatre the phone number is 029 56239.

The GAA co-ordinated weekly Bingo held on Thursdays in Millstreet GAA Community Hall this week features a jackpot of, yes, €8,400.00!

As we approach the significant visits to Ireland of the Queen and the President we were delighted over this past week to welcome from the United States of America not only Paul McNulty but also the Cronin Sisters to Millstreet– all of whom have direct links with the Parish of Millstreet.

And, finally, a thought on which to ponder:  The words, in fact of Muhammad Ali who once stated “Don’t count the days – Make the days count!”

For c103, deputising for Eily Buckley, this is Seán Radley in Millstreet wishing you pleasant listening and until, le cunamh Dé, an tseachtain seo chugainn, beannacht Dé is go dté sibh slán!
