Dia Is Mhuire diobh go leir a Cairde and welcome to news report 1063 from Millstreet. Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this showery but very mild Tuesday morning.

The monthly meeting of the Community Council will be held to-night at the Youth Centre, starting at, all members please attend.

And still with the Community Council, their sub-committee are holding regular meetings with the view of extending our Tennis Court and fitting it  an Astro Turf surface.

On Friday night last very pleasant function was held by the Community Council, and friends, at the Wallis Arms Hotel, and was attended by Canon John FitzGerald.  A special scroll was presented to Bro. Vincent Corkery, by chairman Councillor Noel Buckley, in recognition of the prestigious Dato title which was conferred on him by the Sultan of Perak following over 60 years work in that region. In accepting the gift he said among other things, that to be lauded by your own is the sweetest gift of all. In spite of his advancing years Bro. Vincent has already returned to continue his work in Asia .

A million congratulations to the spritely Peg Healy, Murphy’s Terrace who celebrated her 80th Birthday at the weekend. We wish her many more years of health and happiness.

Lookout for the June issue of “The Irish Vintage Scene,” which will be in the shops from May 20th, It carries an impressive account of our Vintage and Family Day which as held at the Green Glens on Easter Sunday.

Weekly Creative writing continues at out Library to-morrow Wednesday from 11-12.

Sadly our Annual Pattern Day in Cloghoula fell into a watery grave last Sunday when heavy rains caused it to be deferred to another date not yet decided.

And they’re doing it all again this weekend at the Glen Threatre with SAY CHEESE. Their wonderful comedy, Its on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, starting at 8,30 each time. The number for enquiries 02956239.

Our wonderful Tidy Town committee, are looking for help for to-nights clean-up. Please meet them at the Square at 7. And we must compliment all those who engaged in this work, Their efforts, be it painting or planting or picking up litter etc, are making a difference.

A note from our Church Restoration group reminding us to please return all tickets and monies this week, the draw will be held on Sunday May 15th.

Millstreet incurred a defeat to Banteer in the Duhallow Junior A Hurling League.
Upcoming, in the Ducon Cup, Millstreet are away to Knocknagree this Wednesday evening at 7.30pm
and host Ballydesmond on Sunday  at 2pm .
Millstreet V Knocknagree in the Junior B Football League in Millstreet on Friday at 7.30pm.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at Tarrant’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 2, 16, 18, 25 and the jackpot was not won.
