Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1061 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely Tuesday morning of Easter Week,

Fine weather prevailed all during Holy Week and our Church ceremonies drew attendances like never before. Our Parish church was crowded at 9pm Holy Thursday, 3pm  Good Friday, and on Holy Saturday both for the Polish Mass in the afternoon  and the Vigil Mass at 9 that night, again on Easter Sunday the crowds came for the 11.30 Mass. And our priests held confessions at every opportunity throughout. Again they were very well attended. Parish Priest Fr. Jack FitzGerald thanked all those who helped in so many ways to make our Easter so meaningful for everyone.

Next Sunday will see the Divine Mercy Devotions in our Parish Church starting with confessions at 2.30 followed by the Chapel of Mercy at 3pm. The Novena which started on Good Friday will end that day. May 1st.

Due to the painting of the Church there will be no choir until further notice.

And people are asked to please return all Trocaire Boxes to the Church as soon as possible.

The annual commemoration  ceremony was held at the Monument in the Town Square after 11.30 Mass on Sunday The parade was led through the town by our pipe Band and the oration was ably delivered by Tony Lane ,Skibbereen, husband of Kathleen Creedon, formerly of Cloghoula.

The Annual Vintage Rally  and Family Day Out which was held at the Green Glens on Sunday was an outstanding success. There was a real carnival atmosphere, with fun’n games for the children, vintage cars etc.  as well as  many stalls selling all sorts of odds ‘n ends , plus refreshments and all to the strains of local music.

The Vintage Club members   who   were delighted with the support they received would like to thank the Duggan Family for the free use of the Mighty Green Glens and all those who helped in any way with their most enjoyable venture. Proceeds to be divided between The Canon O Donovan Centre and the Local Hospital.
