Dia is Mhuire diobh go lei a Cairde and welcome to news report 1058 from Millstreet. Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this windy but mild Tuesday morning.

Crowds visiting  our Country Park on Sunday surpassed all records and expectations. In honour of Mothers  Day the Gates were flung wide open and weather was beautiful, the people came in their hundreds. And a great time was had by all. The park will play a big part in our Walking Festival which will be held here this weekend April 9/10

All hands are on deck these in preparation for it. The organising committee have been working hard on mapping out routes to suit all tastes. Our lovely scenery will be there for all to see, some for the very first time. We have ridge walks that will test the more experienced for about 5 or 6 hours.  Three to four-hour walks that will take you to the summit of Clara Mountain to view the wonderful sights of the Blackwater Valley, to the North and the beautiful peaks of the Derrynasaggart mountains to the South. As well as the lakes of Killarney on a clear day. Other walks take only 2 to 3 hours.  designed to suit the less adventurous as well as family groups etc but so that everybody will part of the event. This is the ideal opportunity for the beginner to experienced hill walker. As all walks will have leaders to show you the way.

On this Friday night April 8th there will be a gathering at the Wallis Arms Hotel.  Popular ,walker/cyclist Tom Scriven will be the   guest speaker at 9pm.This gathering will give walkers a chance to meet up with fellow walkers and plan their strategy for the coming days. Each night of the weekend there will be music both traditional and modern to be enjoyed by all.   For more details ring. 087 352 87 50
