Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this cold and bright Shrove, Tuesday morning.

First of all I must say a very Happy 90th Birthday to Paddy Murphy, West End, and wish him and his wife Teresa Corcoran and all the family, the  very best for the future.

The AGM of the lotto committee will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday March 18th starting at 7pm.

And still with Tarrants Bar, fans will be delighted to hear that the Sam Maguire Cup is coming to Tarrant’s Bar on this Saturday night March 12th. A framed picture of the  team will be raffled , and a great night is guaranteed.

Preparations are in full swing for our St. Patricks Day Parade which will be held in Millstreet on March 17th at 5pm. Regular meetings are being held and those intending to take part please give your details to any committee member. Lots of prizes to be won. And a special one for the Best Dressed Window.

People in the town are asked to decorate their premises in honour of our Patron Saint. And the add extra atmosphere.

Organisers meeting will be held to-night at the Wallis Arms Hotel at 8 followed by the Monthly meeting of the Community Council at 8.30.

Out in Carriganima they will host their St Patricks Day Parade  on Sunday March 20th at 2pm. Music on the day will be provided by the ever popular Threshing Mill Boys. Again those intending to take part please your details  to Seanie or Matt  at the Pub.

And to the West, Rathmore are holding their St Patricks Day on Sunday March 13th. at 2pm. Led by the Cullen pipe band.  Mob 087 67 37 063.

Our Brilliant Development Group is making waves in all directions. Having already held a string of very successful events, they will now hold a Walking Festival on  the weekend of April 9/10. Now that the loop walk on Clara Mountain has become a reality they are developing further extensions to it, thus exposing some of  the finest scenery in the world. Comprising of lakes, mountains, castles, holy wells, and other historical sights. Already a lot of keen interest is being shown on this our first Walking Fest, so please pass the word. The Vintage Club will again hold their Monster Vintage Rally ,and Family Day Out ,at the Green Glens on Easter Sunday April 24th.with the proceeds going to local charities.

Our May Bank Holiday weekend will be taken up by the Monster

This is Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day and to-morrow is Ash Wednesday, A day of Fast and Abstinence, Holy Ashes will be distributed after Masses in Millstreet at 10am and 7.30 pm and in Cullen at 8.30pm.

Medjugorie celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and John O Connell wants to remind you of a Pilgrimage that is going there on September 3rd 2011. For full details give him a ring at 026 40007.

Only three more nights left at the Cullen Weigh-In. Last night 45 people attended and 47 lbs weight was lost.

Our wonderful Pipe Band is celebration 60 years of unbroken service, with some of the founder members still there to the good.  They are holding a gala event at the Dromhall Hotel in Killarney on Saturday March 26th. Tickets at €30 each are on sale over a wide area including the Credit Union. Please support them well.

Aubane Social Club are holding their AGM on Wednesday 9th March at 9pm in Aubane Community Centre.  All are welcome to attend.  New members are always welcome to join this active and enthusiastic club.

Set Dancing continues every Monday night in Aubane Community Centre at 9.15pm sharp and fun card playing also continues every Thursday night in Aubane at 8.30pm and as always all are welcome

Millstreet enjoyed success in the Duhallow Scór na bPaistí last Saturday night , in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk.  Millstreet  took outright victory at instrumental music and runner up place in the Ballad Group.

The Instrumental Music group advances to a county semi final in Ballydehob on Sunday next  at 2.30pm.

Millstreet  were successful in the Cork County Tráth na  gCeist Table Quiz  at an  event hosted in Bishopstown by the Cork Co GAA. And now  progress to a Munster Final in Mallow on this Thursday night.

Millstreet overcame  Kanturk in the Duhallow Under 21 Football Championship and  meet Kilbrin in a semi final on. Friday night.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were 1, 7, 13, 21 and the Jackpot was not won .

€100 went to Emer O Mahony, Inchaleagh.  The seller was her Dad Jerry and he got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Evyonne and Vro Twomey, Main St. €20 each went to Mairead Daly, Mount Leader, Julia Curtin, Meelin, Elaine & Timmy O Connor, Gurrane, Willie Ray, Murphy’s Tce, Paddy Sheahan, Murphy’s Tce.
