Seán Radley’s Night

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. We can do no great things, only small things with great love.’ ~Mother Teresa
It was my privilege to be part of a community celebration on Saturday night in Green Glens, Millstreet. The celebration marked many years of contribution by Sean Radley to his local community and beyond. He is a man who has done endless small things with great love and will continue to do so for many more years. Sean’s contribution to his local community is beyond measure. No money could buy his contribution to education, local television, local radio and his unique ability to make every person feel special. We so often take many people for granted in our lives but on Saturday night over 600 people gathered to say thanks and well done. Such was the enthusiasm of the local community that they went off and bought him a brand new car! Sean’s story is also reflected in so many people who quietly go about their lives each day. Sometimes we feel we are just a single drop but Mother Teresa put it so well when she said the ocean would be less because of that missing drop. It is good and important to recognise the value of your contribution. It makes the world of a difference.

  2. A billion heartfelt thanks to Fr. James and to the many people like Jim McSweeney who have expressed such wonderfully uplifting sentiments. Fr. James, John Tarrant, the entire LTV2 Crew and other camera enthusiasts – thank you sincerly for having recorded so comprehensively a Night of Nights. I’m presently getting my thoughts together – having gradually come down to earth after such a magical event – for the upcoming “Clara News” to attempt thanking all the amazing members of the Organising Committee as well as many others.

Greetings from Redding California. I had the pleasure of being in Millstreet on St. Patrick’s Day 2010. My wife and I met Sean Radley and his hospitality was fabulous. Regrets we won’t be able to be there this year, but in advance, ad Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all.

  6. Congratulations Sean! It is really great to see such a deserving person get recognition for the years of effort preserving and sharing the history of Millstreet. Quite frankly, without your help many of us who emigrated many years ago would not recognise the town today.
Enjoy a long and happy retirement
    God Bless

    1. Thank you very much Pat & All the wonderful Lehane Family. It is a very great privilege to be part of the Millstreet website team of Hannelie, Michael, Eily, Fr. James & Others. We are sincerely uplifted by the positive comments which we regularly receive from our many loyal website visitors who seem to truly appreciate our attempt in keeping Millstreet natives all over the world updated on the many happenings in and around their beloved native town. On our recent great Night of Celebration before such a mighty group of people at Green Glens on Saturday night, MC Supreme, Marie Radley-Casey, made very special reference to your good self, Pat, regarding a wonderfully kind comment you made some time ago similar to the above in many ways, where you emphasised the very positive effect our website was having on Millstreet natives abroad. Renewed thanks for such appreciated encouragement. Kindest regards from All in Sráid a’ Mhuilinn.

  7. Well done Sean.
It,s great to see all of your hard work for Millstreet being recognised. It was nice to see you enjoying the Celebration Night on the web site photos. There must be a few aspiring TDs around North at the moment who would give their right arm for a share of your popularity.

    1. Hi Ted & All the Barrett Family in Beautiful Cardiff – Many, many thanks for not only your much appreciated kind comments but, as always, your wonderfully gifted wit and humour. We all so enjoyed your great observations of Millstreet during our “Snow Tours” – especially your desire to provide a shovel when you noted the snow and ice on the footpath in the Square! Always keep up that inspiring approach, Ted – It does us all so much good! Kindest regards to All in Wales.

  8. My only disappointment was in not being present to add testimony to the TREMENDOUS enthusiasm and energy that Sean has displayed to my family and myself over the past decade.

I look foreward to when next we meet and to the myriad of accomplishments that Sean will doubtless perform for many more years to come.

Congratulations to the Organizing Commitee, the Millstreet Community and, of course, to the man, himself — Sean Radley.

  9. Bob & Family – It has been a great privilege knowing your good selves over the past decade and I look forward to seeing that friendship grow further in the years ahead. Sincere thanks for such kind and greatly appreciated comments.

  10. Sean, congratulations from an old Minor Row friend, a wonderful and very well deserved tribute to a very kind and generous man. Enjoy a long happy and fruitful retirement.

    1. So wonderful to hear from you Mary, Gerry & Family in beautiful Co. Wicklow. Yes, we are all so privileged to have grown up in Minor Row, Millstreet during those pre-television days and to have experienced so many splendid happenings in Millstreet over the years. You have always been such great Friends. Many thanks for such kind comments.
