The Employment and Training Working Group is proposing to develop a Women’s Dressmaking Group with the aim that participants will enjoy the sense of achievement in creating a tailored garment for their own personal body shape. Introductory demonstrations will be given. Step by Step guidance will be provided on the pattern, fabric, cutting, sewing, fitting and finishing and each participant will create an A-line skirt from commencement to finish. Names are now being sought from the public to determine interest in such a training course. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Mary McHugh at 029 60633.

Beginning at Michael O’Sullivan’s in Drishane Road, Millstreet this evening at 7.00 a Victory Parade honouring the newly elected Fine Gael T.D. , Deputy Áine Collins will take place. Speakers will make an address at the Monument in the Square and the Parade will also travel to West End. All are very welcome. We extend heartfelt congratulations to Áine, to Michael Creed and to Michael Moynihan on being elected to the new Dáil.
On Sunday, February 20th, 2011, the coldest night of the winter thus far, Mary Grace Farrell died on the steps of St. Brigid’s Church in Tompkins Square Park, NY. This church was built by Irish Famine emigrants. Born in Ireland, she had gone to New
York at seventeen to pursue her dream of being an artist. She spent some time in an orphanage in Drogheda and a friend from that time describes her as “a sweet girl with a lovely smile and a heart of gold.” Mary Grace Farrell leaves behind a twelve-year old son named Oliver. The following is a short reflection on her life.
Report by Tim Kiely: We beat Killowen 2-1 away from home this morning. Playing up the hill in the first half, we got into our stride quickly and created a couple of early half chances. The pressure told after 15 mins when Eamon O Keeffe swung in a lovely cross for Chris Cleary who nodded home at the back post. Cleary and Barry Lawlor both had chances to extend our lead shortly after but were unable to convert. Killowen came back into the game after that and got back on level terms in the 35th min from a direct free kick. We came out of the blocks very well in the 2nd half and had chances for Michael Murphy, Lawlor and Tadhg Collins. The death has occurred on Wednesday, February 23, 2011of Patrick (Paddy) DINEEN of ‘Spamount House’, Knocknapogue, Millstreet.
Removal this Friday evening at 9pm from Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet, to St.Patrick’s Church. Requiem Mass tomorrow, Saturday, at 12 noon, followed by burial in St Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet.
Please post this picture of a stray dog i found today loose around Millstreet. He has a black collar saying “Rogz”. I can be contacted by rightful owner at 087-2390850.

Well it’s all over, the night for Sean Radley’s retirement has come and gone, but will never be forgotten. February 19th 2011 will go down in the annals of Millstreet as a night of joyous celebration and a testament to community co-operation and goodwill.
The whole event from the start of the Vigil Mass in the church to the National anthem in the Green Glens has all been filmed and documented and preserved for posterity.
People came from all parts of the country and even London to join with us in paying honour to our beloved Sean. The Vigil Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Paddy O Byrne, Fr. Sean Tucker, Fr. Gerard O Leary and Fr James McSweeney. And the church choir attended. Sean who was accompanied by his many cousins from Dungarvan, Killarney Following the mass the pipe Band played as the people left the church. A Vintage car awaited our special guest to take him to the Green Glens where he was played-in again by the pipe band. And on entering the beautifully decorated arena he was met with loud applause from over six hundred people who turned up to honour him.
There was music song and dance, and lots of beautiful food. Best of all, on behalf of our community, Derry Morley chairman of the organising committee presented Sean Radley with a beautiful new Fiat Panda car. MC for the night was Marie Casey who graced the entire occasion with her beautiful and talented disposition. Entertainment was provided on the night by our local Comhaltas Group, By Ann Marie ORiordan and the Kelt, (Connie & Tom). And when Sean ended his response he raised the roof with his rendering of YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE with all present joining him in chorus.
This week’s program of LTV2 will include many scenes from the historic night.
“Walking in the Heart of Munster” is a new walking brochure published by the people that promote Ballyhoura Country (the region around Kilmallock, Co.Limerick).
It’s nice to see that Clara Mountain has made it’s way into a five day walking tour of the region, alongside the Galty Mountains, Knockmealdown Mountains, and the Ballyhoura Mountains. More progress on our way to the walking festival which is coming this year to Millstreet.
