2010 North Cork Cup winner: "Party Jay Cee"

THERE was a thrilling finish to the North Cork Cup at Millstreet, Co. Cork yesterday when Party Jay Cee came racing through to narrowly take the opening turn against Millbridge Eoin and capture the prize.
The winner had put out the overnight favourite, Blazing Serpent in the semi-final. He was away smartly from slips and although Blazing Serpent closed as they neared the hare he had to give best by a length. Millbridge Eoin saw off Tubbermartin Lad in his semi-final, taking the opening turn by three lengths.

Millbridge Eoin looked set to win the decider when he led Party Jay Cee from slips but as they neared the hare Party Jay Cee drove in to take the spoils.

The Derby Trial Stake was won in good style by Sound Pistol, owned by the four members of the Pistol Knights Syndicate from Abbeyfeale, Co. Limerick.

The winner, the long odds favourite, came up against Pay Me in the decider but when the pair collided in the run-up Sound Pistol pulled out to turn the hare with a length and a half in hand.

There was a big upset in the final of the Oaks Trial Stake when Ballymac Rudi got the better of the much fancied Cheryl by two lengths, getting in for a further score before the finish.

Fleetwood Saki looked to have won the Denis “Toots” Kelleher Game Proctection Cup in a close buckle with Hunters Gold. However, the judge pulled the flag in favour of the latter, a decision that did not meet with universal approval.
