Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this cold and icy Tuesday morning.

To-morrow Wednesday December 8th is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses for this evening and to-morrow will be as for any weekend.

Please take note that the 45Drive in aid of  Millstreet Community Hospital which was to be held at the Green Glens Arena tomorrow Wednesday night has been deferred to a later date.

The Meeting about the retirement do, in February, for Sean Radleys retirement,  planned for to-night is off.

Our Bingo is off again this Thursday night.

And the monthly meeting of our Gramophone Circle fixed for this Friday night, Dec. 10th has been cancelled.

In spite of the bad weather our Town Development Group held a very successful three-day Christmas Market at the GAA Hall on Friday Saturday & Sunday last. There was a wonderful display of locally produced foods , & crafts on offer. Also antiques and fashion wear. So well done to all the organisers, and many thanks to all who supported it.

The new Christmas lighting is being placed at various locations around the Town with great effect and householders are asked to please do their own bit to brighten up the scene as we prepare for the Festive Season.

Our shops and stores are still full of gift ideas and  be reminded that gifts with a difference could be very welcome this year such as coal, brikets, a load of blocks or perhaps a voucher towards a quantity of fuel, to name but a few.

We had a country Market here in Millstreet every Friday morning for fourteen years, but it closed, people still miss that lovely Friday morning gathering, Would there be anybody out there willing to take it up again, now that so many are out of work.

The Night at Drishane Castle also went ahead on Friday night despite the frosty conditions. The flood-lit drive and castle, made magic of the approach to the venue and inside the warmth of the mulled wine and grand surroundings were the stuff that dreams are made of on a cold winters night. Sean Radley was there to capture  the Concert for viewers of LTV.   At the end  the combined cast,  joined in a rapturous singing of Silent Night in Four Languages , it was just great , and the proceeds go to various children’s charities. Before going home the large crowd were treated to warming refreshments.

Kilcorney Women’s Resourse Group will host an information evening on to-morrow Wednesday December 8th, Evelyn  from the Garden of Eve Florists will give a demonstration on Christmas Arrangements Admission is  €3 ,a raffle will be held ,all are welcome and it starts at 8.

Christmas issue of Clara News  is in the shops, just time enough to send it to your loved ones abroad.

Scor na nOg was cancelled in Dromagh last Friday night but goes ahead this Friday night Dec.10 at 7.30. And the best of luck to the Millstreet Ballad Group contesting the County Semi-Finals.

Our Transition yr students will stage their Play “Lovers at Versailes”,on Monday, Tuesday &Thursday of next week, December 13, 14 16th.Starting at 8pm.

Our Presentation School will host a Nativity Musical Presentation in our Church on Monday night next. December 20th.

Our Boys National School will hold a  Musical Nativity Presentation. at the GAA Hall on Tuesday December 21st.

Louise Morrissey Concert fixed for December 11th at the Briery Gap has been cancelled.

Meanwhile at Ionad Cultura in Ballyvourney ,the Concert given by Steve Cooney and Iarla O Lionaird goes ahead as planned ,this Friday night Decenber 10th .  For enquiries ring  02645733.

People in the Millstreet Church catchment area are advised to try their TVs as the transmission from our church, has been upgraded and it is hoped that many more people especially the elderly can now partake in church services in the comfort of their own homes.

If the world is getting you down, then help is at hand .local lady Jane Thomas, can provide Counselling, both one to one or couples, Stress Management and lots more. Jane lives in Knocknakilla and her Mobile number 087 75 97 407. Jane also helps out at the Thrift Shop in Millstreet, and you could drop into her there for an appointment.

Cullen Special Needs Association Christmas Party, Saturday December 11th . Starting with Mass at 1.30.

And the Cadbury Ireland Monster Table Quiz will be held in Flemings Tavern, Cullen on this Friday night December 10. starting at 9.30. It’s in aid of the Cullen Special Needs.

The 5th year students of our Community school will hold a cake sale at the Parish Centre on Saturday night December 11th at 6.30pm.

Santa in Aubane next Sunday December 12th at 2pm.

Their Christmas Party is on Tuesday, December 14th starting at 8.

Santa will be arriving at the Pub in Carriginma at 2o clock on Sunday December 19th, Arriving by Helicopter  and his reindeers will be there too.

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at Corkery’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were,2,11, 12, 30 . and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Martin Hickey, the seller was John Hickey and he got €50 sellers prize.€50 went to Tadg Murphy, Ballydaly, €20 each to Pat Collins, Knocknaloman, Brendan & Liz Hickey, Ballinagree. Mick Walshe, Carriginma, Paddy McCarthy, Lackabawn, Nora Scannel, Clara Rd. Peg Carroll, Tubber, Joe O Mahony, Knocknagree, & Marie Twomey, Station Rd. Jackpot for next week €5,400 the draw at the Mal Passo Bar on Sunday night.
