A most impressive Balloon Release took place today, Tuesday 16th November at 12noon in Millstreet Community School bus park. It involved the release of about 300 black or white balloons filled with helium. The idea of this event
came from a group of Transition Years who wanted to find a different and memorable way to remember loved ones who had passed away. Each Student and member of Staff was asked to write names of loved ones on a small piece of paper and these were inserted into the balloons. All the balloons were collected in a net and a short prayer service with all the school participating with Fr. Paddy O’Byrne and co-ordinator, John Magee, School Chaplain as well as a number of Students took place before all 300 balloons were released. It was indeed quite a sight as well as being a memorable way to remember our Faithful Departed. Here we share images of the very special occasion. (Seán)
