There is an overnight halt in the Quality Hotel in Youghal on Sat Night and on Sun 14th there is a 3 hr session booked at Watergrasshill Karting Track from 10am till 1pm where there will be a drifting demonstration to finish off the weekend.
The Irish Escort Club was founded in June`07 by Glenn Carroll and was originally called “Classic Escort Owners Club Of Ireland” . Due to his love of Escorts he thought it would be a good idea to set up a website/forum to bring escort owners together. The website didn’t take off as he hoped at first and was put on the back boiler.
It wasn’t until Feb`08 that things really took off, with a name change to “Irish Escort Club” so as not to single out the more modern greats like the Cosworth, and with the addition of a new member to the admin team (Declan Casey – Kilcorney) and the addition of a few other good men behind the scenes, that things started to move forward.
Soon members being registered were in the double figures, escort owners/lovers were popping up from all over the country and from as far a field as Australia, South Africa an Malta. The site now has nearly 1500 members an still going strong.
Quickly meets an runs were been organised in different parts of the country with 50 to 60 cars in attendance at some of these gatherings. The club became the envy of other Ford clubs throughout the country and a credit to the escort owners involved, who have collected a lot of money for charity along the way!
The website contains endless amounts of advice, parts for sale, pictures and useful links to all things escort, with plenty of decent lads only too happy to share there knowledge no matter how big or small your technical problems.
IEC now boasts its own merchandise, including t-shirts, jackets, stickers and key rings. For more information on this run and much more visit www.irishescortclub.com.
