Parade of Retiring Riders at Green Glens Equestrian Event

The Sunday Parade as well as the Prize Giving at the annual Owners Pony & Young Riders Charity Show is always so very colourful and is hugely popular with the audience.    As I walked down to be in time at Green Glens I noted a “deer” in the grounds of Millstreet Community School!   Not a real live deer but rather a superb sculpture apparently recently been placed on the grass setting at the entrance of the school.   Arriving at Green Glens I was just in time to witness and record Millstreet Pipe Band leading the parade of the very talented young riders on their well groomed ponies.   Awarding the many prizes was Noel C. Duggan who so magnanimously makes the complete Green Glens complex available free of charge for what many now regard this annual event as the biggest Pony Show in Europe.   Special Guest, Joe Walsh (former Minister for Agriculture),  presented further prizes and bursaries after which he praised this inspirational and most impressive annual event.  We would also echo those comments and we extend sincere congratulations to Keith Griffin & his superb co-workers as well as Thomas Duggan for organising such a wonderfully worthwhile and very important annual event.  Here we share some of the images we recorded this Sunday evening.   (Seán Radley for www.millstreet.ie )
