Fondest greeting dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this mild and breezy, Autumn Tuesday morning.

Oh the Joy of an All Ireland win, and the twenty year wait made it all the sweeter. God Bless them all  and well done all round.

And well done also to little Katie Taylor on winning yet another World Boxing Final, where she had to take the ring and fight her battle all by herself. What a girl.

Our friends from Our Twin Town in Brittany, arrived in town on Saturday at noon amid a blaze of red/white flags and all that goes with the excitement of the day before the Match. They were treated to welcome helpings of Irish Stew at McCarthys Bar, ably prepared by the local committee. Later, in ideal Autumn weather, they attended a very enjoyable tree-planting ceremony near the Grotto on the Macroom rd to celebrate 25th anniversary of the Twinning project. The pipe band played there as they do for all of special occasions.  Just now our guests are enjoying a few days in the West of Ireland and will be back here on Friday on time for a celebration Ball at the Wallis Arms Hotel  Tickets available from any member. And they leave us again on Saturday.

Church Gate collection in Millstreet this weekend September 25/26thwill be in aid of our Pipe Band.

And the Church Gate collection in Cullen for those dates will be in aid of Bru Columbanus. Organised by Joan Anders, The same Joan will take part in the Cork Mini Marathon on Sunday 26th.

And she will hold a Flag-day in Millstreet Town on this Friday September 24th. all in aid of Bru Colmbanus , a place in Wilton , which is a haven of rest for those  who have patients at CUH. Joan would like  any help with this worthwhile work  and can be contacted at 087 233 57 88.

The people of Cullen are holding a Harvest Thanksgiving Mass on this Friday evening starting at 8 and   it will mark their last Vigil Mass

Their Special Needs Association, Their National School and the entire Community will participate in this special showing of thanks to God for his wonderful gifts.Mass will be followed by a very novel “Pandy Night”, where people bring  in a variety of dishes  all made with the common spud. In real Cullen style there will be lots of music and dancing, A great night is assured and all are welcome.

Dromtarriffe ICA will host a talk by Jill Farrell Eye Specialist, at their community Hall , to-night ,starting at 8.30, all welcome.

Our Knitting Club is on every Tuesday in Millstreet from 7-9 t the Adult Learning in the Main St.

The celebrations in honour of 150 anniversary of St Josephs Church in Rathmore, continue this week and on Sunday next a monster Fair will be held in the Village, comprising of Horses, Sheep, Cattle  Crossroad Dancing, to name but a few , with some great prizes to be won in the various categories. See posters for details.

Exposition of the Blessed sacrament in our Church every Wednesday from 10,30 to 8.30 pm , in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

The Parish Choir has returned in Millstreet Church, Practice starting on Wednesday of next week, new members welcome.

A note from  our local librarian Breda to say that they will have a great Majic Show at the Library  on Saturday from 12-1.

The Living Scenes Project has resumed at the Community School any Adults who would like to join please contact the school at 02970087.

Still with the Community School, they have Mass there to-night for first year students and their families starting at 8.

Set-Dancing classes  in Ballydaly Hall to-morrow Wednesday night starting at 8.30

This week we welcome Mike and Willie Cronin from Nebraska , friends of Fr. Paddy who are enjoying the scenes of Millstreet as we speak. Hope they enjoy their stay.

IRD Duhallow in conjunction with Cork Sports Partnership, will hold  Sports Ability day on this Saturday September 25th, from 10 – 12 at Banteer Community Centre, for details give them a ring at 029 6633.

An LTV2 meeting was held last night to plan the season ahead. Starting off on Thursday October 7th . the first two programs will be repeats  to allow people to realise that we’ re back and to adjust their sets. The First live program on October 21st.   We are inviting people to make suggestions about our program content and to let our camera men know of any interesting happenings out there. Money, or the lack of, is always a challenge , and we’d be glad of any help in that score.

Large crowds from Millstreet attended the All Ireland Football Finals at Croke Park on Sunday.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Clara Inn on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were  13, 18, 26, 29,and the jackpot was not won. €100 went to Jim O Doherty, Banteer, the seller was Phil Twomey at the Credit Union and she got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Margaret  O Leary, Rathmore, €20 each to Mairead Cronin,

Main St, Elaine Rohen, Priests Cross, Denice Neenan, Australia. Sheila Corkery, Adriale, The Tarrant Family, Liscreagh, Brian O Leary, Drishane Rd, Noreen Corkery , of Corkerys Bar. And Marie O Keeffe, Rathcoole.  Jackpot for next week €3,200 the draw at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.
