Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this lovely Tuesday morning with an air of Autumn.
Our first word this morning will have to go to our victorious Cork team on their nail biting win against Dublin on Sunday. They did us proud, well done also to our own Set dancing team on coming second at the All Ireland finals of Fleadh na h-Eireann, which were held in Cavan town at the weekend.
Our Pipe Band was very busy attending key events, The Rose of Tralee parade on Saturday evening and the Michael Collins Memorial service at Beal na Blath on Sunday. and well done to them also.

This is Heritage Week with lots of special events planned to celebrate it. Our lovely Country Park is celebrating the first year of their magnificent water falls, Mont des Arts. With a full program to mark it. Look up their Web Page.
Feile Duthalla has a wide and varied program for the whole week. Again look up their website. On Sunday next at 2pm, August 29th, with Fr. Sean Tucker as Leader, their coach tour will take off from our Carnegie Hall, and for the next four hours they will visit many of our historical sights and places of interest, stopping for light refreshments on the grounds of Kilmeedy Castle, enroute… The tour will end with a session of traditional entertainment.
It’s that time of year again when we are reminded of the great work done for many years by lay missionary Diarmuid Roche, in The Gambia, in Africa, Following his sad and untimely death over a year ago, some members of his family made their way to the Gambia where they secured the future of his great work, thanks to the continued contributions from people here at home. As little as €150 sees a student through school for a whole year. A fund continues to remain open at our Credit Union where contributions large and small are taken. And by leaving your name and address, the student whom you have helped with send you a letter of thanks etc, plus a picture of him or her self.
Still with missionary work, a wonderful function was held at Ballydaly Hall on Friday night last, at which a cash presentation was made to the well-known Fr. Con. Kiely, whose mission is in Equador. Church gate collections were held recently, for the cause, with many people contributing on the night. Fr. Con. spoke of the dire poverty in that country, of the successes that they have achieved in the past and their many plans for the future. Some lovely refreshments were served and the night was wiled away with a most entertaining session of music song and dance, and good company well done to the people of Ballydaly on a wonderful occasion, so well carried out.
There’s a nice function at our local library to-day from 3-4 entitled “Meet Molly” the lovable puppy, and learn how to look after your pet. Admission is free all are welcome.
