Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1026 from Millstreet.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this rather changeable but warm Tuesday morning.

Last week we held our breath, hoped for the best and prayed, and all of our efforts paid off  a hundred fold. Our Summer Horse Show at the mighty Green Glens was a resounding success. Horses and people came pouring in, the weather was ideal, and the atmosphere was electric and when nights fell in, jumping went on till late in the indoor arena at night.  At various times young riders from Mallow’s Riding School put on beautiful displays to the strains of Strauss music. And on Sunday afternoon the Grand Prix brought our Summer Show to a spectacular close. The Duggan Family issued heartfelt thanks to all those who supported them in any way.

In conjunction with the show an Artisan / Craft Fair was held in the town square on Saturday with everything from hot food the painted pictures, glass wear, jewellery, etc on sale. It was very well supported.  The pubs and hotel put on music every night  giving  visitors to the show got good value for their money.

Already bookings for the Pony Show in October are coming in and Millstreet now has some new and high class accommodation to offer.

Look up our website for all the pictures and details of our Summer Horse Show.

Still with the Green Glens, an Australian camera crew will come here in September to recap on our hosting of the EuroVision Song Contest in 1993. They will want to hear all about how we came to host it in the first place, how we met the challenge and the outcome, in its aftermath. So please root out any memorabilia to do with that period, it may be needed for their program. More details if and when they come to hand.
