Kathleen O’Leary – Genealogy

My grandfather, Timothy John O’Leary, came to the US (San Francisco, California) about 1846-1850 from Millstreet … his father and grandfather were also Timothy John O’Leary … family lore has it that my older brother was the ninth generation with the first son with that name … my brother’s son is called “Ten” within the family since he is officially Timothy John O’Leary X … I would love to know some family history from Millstreet regarding my father’s family … I can be reached on facebook or contacted directly at  … thank you for any response …

  1. I write again, just in case. My ancestors were named Chinnery, born in County Cork. John Chinnery married Julia Lehan(e), also of Cork, circa 1849 – I think in Cork but I am not sure. They moved to Wales, where their four children were born in the 1850s. John died in Wales and Julia brought the four children to New York. They were: James, Catherine, John and Michael. Michael, b. circa 1858, became my g-grandfather. He died in Yonkers, NY, in 1913. I never had names of John or Julia’s parents or siblings if any. My John’s father MAY have been named James; his mother MAY have been Catherine Sullivan. Of the four siblings, James died in 1930, Catherine, 1896 (unmarried) and my Michael in 1913 … all in Yonkers, NY. Julia is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Yonkers with her two unmarried children, John and Catherine. I have no death dates on Julia nor her son John. The bodies were moved when the New York State Thruway came through and now no one at the cemetery can give me any information on my Chinnerys. Does anyone have information on these Chinnerys?
