Fr Sean Tucker’s lovely book: The Famed Hill of Clara, has arrived at Wordsworth Bookshop. And is a must for anyone connected with Millstreet.  And a lovely read. It will be officially launched at the Aubane Social Club on Sunday October 25 at 8pm.

The National Dairy Show will be held at the Green Glens Arena this Saturday October  17th. All under one roof.  Restaurant will be up and running. And there’s always plenty of Parking. A great day is guaranteed.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 3, 12,   23 ,27, And the Jackpot  was not won . €100 went to Eugene O Callaghan, Drishane View. Mass in Ballydaly Church tonight to celebrate it’s 80th anniversary. Starts at 7.30 and the celebrant will be their own Fr. Sean Tucker.

Meanwhile up at our lovely Country Park they are taking bookings for their Christmas Festivities which will be held on December 9, 10 15, and 17. catering for groups large and small. For more details give them a ring at 029 70810.   Park opened every day till November 1st.

Monthly Meeting of the Community Council will be held at the Youth Centre to-night starting at 8.30. All members please attend.

Enrolment for Kilcorney Gym this Friday  night from 7.30. Season tickets €80 for adults, and €60 for students.

Coffee Morning in aid of Marymount Hospice will be held at the Kilcorney Social Centre on Sunday October 18th From 11 to 3 .

A jacket was left  following a coffee morning for the same cause in Millstreet some weeks ago. It can be collected at the Parish Office.

The Banteer Drama Group raised the curtains on their one-act plays on Saturday night last at the Glen Theatre. This year they have four plays and they were most enjoyable. Your next chance to see them will be on Sunday next October 18th. You will know all the members of cast which makes it all the better. Their number for enquiries 029-56239.

On Thursday October 22 they will host a Fashion Show, and on October 30th PJ Gallagher, comedian.

Both of our butchers in the town achieved gold medals recently at the all Ireland Finals in Dublin.  O’Learys for the own special brand of sausage and Craft Butchers for Traditional Sausage. Many congratulations all round.

Our Town Traders have  re-activated their committee  with many new people coming on board. They meet on a weekly basis at the moment and are very ambitious about the future. We will keep you informed of their progress.

Super Valu are again sponsoring the West Cork Garda Youth Awards for 2009.   Young people from the age of 14to 21 can be nominated. So if you know of any young person who is stands out in the crowd for their good works, please get an application form from Super Valu Store and put the name down for consideration. Closing date Friday November 6th.

They are about to host a number of workshops, of interest to Voluntary Groups, Sports Clubs, Tidy Towns, Youth Clubs etc And they are asking that groups nominate at least on person to attend these workshops  which are designed to help groups to become more aware the funding that is available and how to  access it. Program will be held at the training Centre in Boherbue and starts next Wednesday October 21st at 7.30. For details ring 60633.

IRD Duhallow are also holding an applied Suicide Intervention Workshop on October 21 and 22 at the James O Keeffe Institute, Newmarket from 9 to 5pm.

Duhallow Carers Evening on Wednesday October 28th again at the James O Keeffe at 8pm.

Scór Concert
Cork County Scór marks the 40th Anniversary of its founding at a celebration concert in the Eire Og GAA Pavillion, Ovens on next Saturday night.  The programme includes the Millstreet Scór na nOg set dancers who won the All-Ireland last year

And watch out for a program on TV4  tonight 11.15 and you’ll see our all Ireland set-dancers in full flight.

Millstreet overcame Tullylease in the Duhallow Junior B Football Championship by 1-16 to 1-5,  while Millstreet lost to Newmarket in the Duhallow Cup by 4-20 to 2-2.
