We had reported on the WRC Australia where Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan were competing two weeks ago. Finally confirmation of the results from the Corkman

FRUSTRATION turned to elation for North Cork rally pair Charlie Drake and Eoin Moynihan on winning the PRC National Class in Australian leg of the World Rally championship in New South Wales.

Derinagree native Drake described their 15th overall position and class win as one of the proudest moments of his life.

“To stand on the podium of a world rally championship round and be presented with a trophy and watch the tri-colour flying in front of me was brillant”

The pair ran into problems with scrutiny, excluded from both group N and official results because of not having a rear wiper which was very frustrating

“We had a huge following on the net in Ireland and when our times weren’t posted, everyone thought we had withdrawn or crashed out. I literally received hundreds of texts from Ireland from people wondering what had happened,” he said.
