The Christmas season began in earnest in Cullen on Friday Dec.5th when the 16th Annual Christmas Mass and Party took place in Cullen Community Centre. Weather conditions did not prevent a gallant group of Young at Heart from braving the elements and turning out in style. We had a delightful night, with Mass celebrated by Fr. Gerard O’Leary. We were also joined by Canon Declan O’Connor. As always our very able committee ladies were on hand to host the evening and ensure that everything was in order. A feast of edible delights, all made locally, the delicious aroma of hot punch, music, singing and dancing got all in the right mood for Christmas and an evening of ceol agus craic, with everybody joining in the fun. Pride of place went to our most senior guests - Mary Agnes Murphy, Rathduane and Denis O’Connor, Dromsicane, who did us the honour of cutting our special Christmas cake. The musicians -, Finbar Murphy, Seamus Buckley, Johny Hickey and Michael Fleming excelled and delighted the enthusiastic dancers with the best of dance music. Many of the guests contributed by singing fine songs and numerous spot prizes were given out.
Thanks to all the people who gave generous sponsorship, voluntary donations and spot prizes, to all who helped on the night, John Anthony for amplification and especially all who attended in such great numbers also Sean Radley for his photography, Willie Fitzgerald of LTV and Hannah O’Connor of www. millstreet.ie
This party is a great meeting place for friends to relax, talk and renew friendships.
We fondly remember all those who weren’t with us this year, those who have passed to their eternal reward and those who are sick and couldn’t make it.
We wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas and a great 2009.Click on picture to view in full
